You helped children in a town partially destroyed by a VOLCANO!
In April this year, Volcano Pacaya erupted. Lava flowed down, destroying farmland and homes. It affected the 57 families of El Rodeo village and hundreds more around it. Families were devastated. But thanks to the help of generous people, like you, children now have Icthus there.
Ana, a church leader who is excited to share how these kids are being helped, said:
“Right now, at El Rodeo, where the volcano destroyed the village, we are implementing Icthus. This photo shows the first graduation ceremony
More kids reached in Guatemala!
Thank you so much for helping to reach more children in need with Icthus. Because of your generosity, more Icthus groups are starting in Guatemala. That means more children and their families are coming to know Jesus.
El Amatillo, Chiquimula:
María Pérez is 53 years old. She lives in El Amatillo, A small and poor village in Guatemala. She’s very positive; her love for ministry and the children can be felt when she speaks. She and her husband, Ferdy, are pastoring a church.
Maria noticed that they were losing the younger generation in her church.
“Kids did not want to come to church in my town, but when the Icthus group started, they came and stayed. They come with joy…
We noticed that Icthus children love doing service projects that involve helping others… This new group of kids could be the ones carrying out this precious ministry and becoming leaders in the future.”
Maria and Ferdy are impressed by how many children who grew up in Icthus serve the Lord today. One of their biggest dreams is seeing the new Icthus children become leaders in their church and community one day.
