Thank You for the Good You Did in  2020

Dear Icthus Amigo,

Not only was your life and mine changed in 2020 by a global pandemic, but it also changed how we provide ministry to young people.   Thanks to your generosity and compassion, children received a new program called Icthus en Casa (Icthus at Home) to protect them.  Also thanks to you, impoverished families of Icthus children received emergency food.

We want to share a little about what you helped make happen.  We are grateful for your compassion and concern for children and their families in Latin America.  We hope you’ll continue to help more in 2021.  The need has never been greater.

Lord bless you and your family,

Don Weisbrod

Hurricane Relief in Central America

Icthus Amigos provided Emergency Aid to many families affected by Eta and Iota hurricanes.   The town of El Triunfo, Nicaragua, was devastated.  The local church, Torre Fuerte, offered shelter to the people. Families that lost their homes during the hurricanes rushed to the church seeking refuge.

Thirty families were sheltering there when the second hurricane ripped off part of the roof!  Can you imagine the terror the children and families felt when the roof flew away and the wind and rain came in?

The next morning they found that more of their village was destroyed.  Pastor Salvador, who was helping the families,  called for help, and Icthus Amigos responded.

The support of Icthus Amigos and the churches in Nicaragua was enough to aid 140 families in El Triunfo! Icthus children packaged bags of food and hygiene goods.

Also, Pastor Salvador has asked for help to start the Icthus ministry in his church later in the year.

Thank you to all who provided compassionate aid to these people and others after the hurricane.

Your compassionate aid helped these children at the church and their families affected by hurricanes Eta and Iota.
As the second hurricane approached families took shelter in the church . A part of the roof was ripped off and water entered, but the church stood.
After the storm people met to thank God they had survived. The church’s name in Spanish means “Strong Tower”.
You help provide Icthus en Casa materials and activities to do at home.

Multiplying your gifts with Icthus en Casa

by Luis Yon

I want you to know what you are helping to accomplish. During the pandemic, the life-changing lessons that children used to experience in person are available to them through Icthus en Casa. These are weekly videos and printed lesson plans for children & youth. Even in lockdown, your gifts provide children with a caring ministry.

I reached out to some international team members that are producing videos and writing lesson plans for children & youth.  Here’s what they say about helping to make weekly materials:

Andrea, what were your challenges?: “When Covid19 started,  we did not have the equipment to record videos, but thanks to the generosity of Icthus Amigos, we have that now…”

Why are you making these materials?: “For the love of the children… I am filled with joy, knowing that these materials are reaching many children… It helps entire families to remain close to Jesus during a pandemic.”

-Andrea Aguilar, Icthus leader, Honduras.

Christian & Ana, why are you producing Icthus en Casa programs?:

“ We do it because this gives Icthus children a sense of belonging to the Icthus family, even when we cannot meet in person.”

-Cristian Alvarez & Ana Valladares, Icthus leaders in Honduras.

Please pray for:

  1. Icthus kids whose parents are struggling to provide for food in the aftermath of the hurricanes and the increasing pandemic in Latin America
  2. Wisdom for Icthus leaders to navigate through the year during the global pandemic.
  3. More Icthus amigos to join in helping more children and families.

Thank you for helping to give children a sense of belonging and importance to the Lord and others during a pandemic!

What Icthus Amigos say:

Truly a vision of God."

                                - Baukien

                               - Charlotte

"Icthus is a complete discipleship program  for Kids. Many have grown into leadership in Icthus and their community . It is truly God inspired and continues to be blessed by Him."
