Icthus Film

Our Mission

To equip young people for Christian service and leadership. 

The film “And a Child Shall Lead Them” is based on a true story. It is just one of countless transformational miracles in the lives of children and parents, too.

The film was produced by volunteers (cast & crew) to dramatize what happened when a girl, Gabriela, was invited to Icthus by a friend at school. The Icthus guide visited Gabriela’s home and asked her mother, Isabel, for permission to take her to an Icthus group activity. Gabriela loved the program and decided to invite Christ into her life. She in turn insisted that her mother come to church too. The transformation of healing and hope in the family is a miracle. (Click here to read the full story.)

When Bill was pastor of missions of the La Canada Presbyterian Church, he and Karlene took a vision trip to Guatemala in 1989 to participate in the 25th anniversary of Icthus. There they participated in a camp for children, met Icthus leaders at the international conference, and visited churches and Icthus groups. Click to read what they said.

Bill and Karlene are a great example of how people can invest their interests and talents in missions. By the way, they are willing to do their Guatemala textile presentation in other churches.

Not only is it Icthus’ birthday but yours as well. Why? You are a part of the Icthus ministry of reaching children because of your prayers and participation.

In Guatemala, 45 years ago this month, missionary John Shackelford challenged Don Weisbrod to use his scouting and Sunday school experience to create a program to help churches attract and help kids.  (Click here to read the whole story.)

Today, You and I not only help in Guatemala, but in other countries as well. We are helping more than 1,000 guides to train 8,000 children in 400 groups. This link between Icthus friends like you and leaders in Latin America is very real and is effective in the transformation of young lives.
