NOVEMBER - MULTIPLYING MINISTRY
Have you ever wondered if your gifts and prayers make a difference? They do in Icthus! This month your gift will be matched $1 for $1 to help twice as many kids.
Pamela Hernandez grew up in San Pedro Sula, Honduras (one of the most dangerous cities in the world). When Pamela was 7 she was invited by a neighbor to Icthus. She loved it. At age 15 she became a guide to younger kids. She guided and taught them with love and patience.
A girl named Heidi was one of the kids in Pamela’s group. Heidi loved everything about Icthus. Several years ago she asked if she could become an Icthus guide. It was a big event for her when she received training and was given a group of kids to guide. In addition, to guiding kids, she’s studying psychology in the local university.
I asked Heidi two questions:
Q: Heidi, what do you remember about Pamela when she was your Icthus guide?
A: Pamela was a wonderful guide. She knew how to listen and how to talk to us and teach us. She was always there for us.
Q: Now that you’re a guide and have kids in your group, how do you see the importance of Icthus in your church?
A: Icthus is very important as it provides a safe place for kids to have friends and grow together in the Lord. They learn about Jesus in fun ways.
Icthus Amigos like you have helped young people like Pamela and Heidi to become who they are today. You help them know that God loves them. You encourage them to love God and to love their neighbors as themselves. You help them become fruitful people in God’s Kingdom.
Pamela was guided by Icthus as a child. Then, she became a guide and helped Heidi when she was a child. Now, Heidi is guiding kids like Jair (in the picture with Heidi). One day he may become a guide himself.
What a great example of what Jesus described in the parable of the Soil and Sower. He described the “good soil” as someone who hears the word and understands it…and produces a bountiful corp.
You can provide Icthus to twice as many kids this month because gifts will be doubled.
By helping children have Icthus -
· You’ll give them weekly meetings where they will learn good things
· You’ll help train their guides. You’ll help provide the manuals they use.
· You’ll help kids have adventures, activities and do service projects.
IMPORTANT NEWS THIS MONTH — YOUR GIFT WILL BE DOUBLED!
Two generous Icthus Amigo families have pledged to match gifts up to $3,500. They want to motivate everyone to help. So they are willing to match $1 for $1 gifts received this month to help kids have this ministry.
To qualify for the match: Only gifts that are above and beyond regular monthly gifts will be matched.
Like you, I don’t want to see a single dollar of this matching pledge lost. There are so many more kids in Honduras, and throughout Latin America, who need Icthus.
