Progress Report

Dear Amigos,

The wonderful $10,000 challenge grant match I told you about last month is off to a good start.  As of today we have received $5,780.   Thank you to all who have given.

I want to encourage everyone to help us double the gift that these wonderful Icthus friends have provided.

Whether you can give $25, $50, $200 or more, you’ll help meet the goal of doubling the needed resources for Accelerate Icthus.

Most importantly your gift will help multiply the impact of Icthus in the lives of many more kids and families.   Help achieve the Challenge Grant Goal by returning the coupon.

Thank you,

Don Weisbrod (President & Co-Founder)

We've receive $5,100 towards the $10,000 Chanlenge

Praise the Lord, we’re more than half way! This is a great opportunity to multiply the funding needed for Accelerate Icthus’ growth. If you have not already given your  matching challenge gift, please do so this month.

Pastor Adalci de Avila

Pastor Adalcia de Avila has been promoting Icthus among churches in Colombia.  She has been in some 70 churches of her denomination over the last year and a half.  She considers Icthus to be a universal strategy of evangelism and discipleship for young people.  She wrote: My desire is that this program gets into every church

“It is much needed. Icthus has been a gift from God,” she told us.  “The lives of thousands of children, teens and adults have been changed by Jesus.”

Pastors Emilton and Sandra Comas

Pastors Emilton and Sandra Comas, from the Foursquare Church in Barranquilla, Colombia recently concluded their youth program needed to do a better job helping their young people.

Pastor Emilton had been an Icthus guide in another city 15 years ago, so he contacted the Icthus national director who quickly provided training for his leaders.

Icthus has always been a blessing to me,” wrote Pastor Emilton.  “It marked my life with principles and values and spiritual understanding. That is why I am a pastor today I encourage other pastors to adopt Icthus as well.

Pastor Alvaro Montero from the Tabernaculo de Luz church in San Jose, Costa Rica is pictured to the left with Gennyor Chacon, the Icthus National Director. He said, “We have had Icthus for over 7 years, and it has been full of beautiful experiences as we have worked with kids from 5 to 17.”

Icthus has been special to me, because I have seen that through Icthus, children and teens become better citizens as they become better believers. “I commend Icthus to other pastors because through Icthus, kids learn to serve their communities while they grow in the knowledge of our Heavenly Father.”

“Kids today are exposed to things that didn’t exist when their parents were young.” Pastor Emilton Tomas.

Icthus has risen to this challenge. Parents, pastors and youth leaders are thrilled to find a fun, Bible-based curriculum that addresses the issues kids deal with every day. It can easily be incorporated into any church. And kids love it!

Please help the Latin American pastors  this month by introducing them to Icthus through the Accelerate Icthus  Pastors’ Training Program.

Work has begun on a new three-part Pastor’s Training  Program which is part of the Accelerate Icthus campaign that Icthus Amigos are supporting.  It will provide help to pastors who:

  • Don’t know about Icthus
  • Want to start Icthus and keep it growing in their church
  • Want to attract not only kids but their families

Our goal is to develop the training materials for three pastors’ workshops.  These will help them start Icthus and use it to reach and disciple kids in the surrounding neighborhoods.  We’ll also be able to use the materials and videos to train pastors in more distant groups through the Internet. These new materials will literally become the answer to the prayers of hundreds of pastors.

We’re very excited about these new training materials because they will help more churches start Icthus and they help pastors become more effective in using Icthus to reach and disciple kids.

The cost of developing and producing the pastor training materials is  $1,500.  It is one  of the five projects included in the $27,000 budget of Accelerate Icthus.

You can help answer pastors’  prayers for help by supporting the Accelerate Icthus campaign.  $500 will underwrite the cost of producing each one of the 3 workshops, including

Videos & Audio-visuals - $300

Pastor’s Manuals - $75

Instructor’s Manuals - $125

Your assistance in matching the challenge grant will help accomplish this project.
